An estate plan is a set of legal documents that directs what happens to your property, who makes decisions for you if you become incapacitated, and how your loved ones are cared for after your death. Core documents typically include a will or trust, financial and healthcare powers of attorney, and beneficiary designations.
Yes—you need one. Without an estate plan, Oklahoma’s default intestacy laws decide who inherits your assets, and a court will appoint someone to handle your affairs if you cannot. A properly prepared plan gives you control, reduces stress and expense for your family, and protects both your wishes and your loved ones.
We help individuals and families create comprehensive, customized estate plans that protect their loved ones and avoid unnecessary probates and complications. We also provide estate plan reviews and updates for existing documents.

Probate is the court-supervised process of collecting a deceased person’s assets, paying valid debts and taxes, and distributing what remains to the rightful heirs or beneficiaries. If there is a will, the court also validates it and appoints the personal representative named in the will (or another qualified person if none is named or able to serve).
Probate is not always required. Assets that pass by beneficiary designation, joint tenancy with right of survivorship, transfer-on-death deeds, or through a properly funded trust generally avoid probate. Small estates may also qualify for simplified procedures. Whether probate is needed depends on how the assets are titled and the overall size and complexity of the estate.
When formal probate is required in Oklahoma, the process typically moves through these phases:
Intake and Initial Meeting We gather basic information about the decedent, the will (if any), known assets and debts, and the family situation. We explain the process, timeline, and costs, and determine the appropriate type of probate proceeding.
Preparation for the Initial Hearing and Appointment of Personal Representative We prepare and file the petition, will (if applicable), and supporting documents. Notice is given to interested parties, and a hearing is held. At the hearing the court admits the will (if valid) and appoints the personal representative, who then receives Letters Testamentary (with Will) or Letters of Administration (no Will).
Notice to Creditors and Presentment Date The personal representative publishes notice to creditors and mails notice to known creditors. Creditors have a limited time to present claims. Valid claims are paid or resolved, and the estate’s assets continue to be inventoried and managed.
Final Accounting and Petition for Distribution Once debts, taxes, and expenses are handled, the personal representative prepares a final accounting. We file a petition asking the court to approve the accounting and authorize distribution of the remaining assets to the beneficiaries or heirs. After the court enters its order, assets are distributed and the estate is closed.
We guide families through each phase, handle the required filings and notices, and work to keep the process as efficient and straightforward as possible.

We help entrepreneurs and small business owners establish, maintain, and grow well-structured businesses. Here is a brief overview of the most common options:
Sole Proprietorship — The simplest structure; you and the business are legally the same. Main benefit: Lowest cost and paperwork, complete control, and simple pass-through taxation. Best for: Solo operators or side businesses with low liability risk.
General Partnership — Two or more people co-own and operate the business. Main benefit: Easy to form and allows owners to pool resources and skills. Best for: Small groups who trust each other and accept shared personal liability.
Limited Liability Company (LLC) — A flexible hybrid entity that is separate from its owners. Main benefit: Strong personal liability protection combined with pass-through taxation and minimal formalities. Best for: Most small-to-medium businesses that want protection without corporate complexity.
Professional Limited Liability Company (PLLC) — A specialized LLC available to licensed professionals (attorneys, physicians, accountants, etc.). Main benefit: Liability protection tailored to professional licensing rules. Best for: Licensed professionals who want LLC-style protection while meeting state requirements.
Corporation (C-Corp or S-Corp) — A formal separate legal entity owned by shareholders. Main benefit: Strongest liability protection, easier capital raising, and potential tax advantages (especially S-Corp elections). Best for: Businesses planning growth, seeking outside investors, or needing a more formal structure.
The best choice depends on your specific goals, risk tolerance, tax situation, and plans for growth. We can help you evaluate the options under Oklahoma law and select the structure that fits your needs.
